CHERRY ANGIOMA
(campbell de morgan spots)
Cherry angioma or Campbell De Morgan spot is a benign (non-cancerous) growth of blood vessels that appears as small, bright red or purple dots or bumps on the skin. They are also known as blood spots. These growths are composed of clusters of tiny blood vessels, also known as capillaries, and are commonly found on the surface of the skin, particularly in areas like the chest, back, abdomen, and arms.
Cherry angiomas are often round or oval in shape and can vary in size from a pinhead to several millimetres in diameter. They are sometimes called “red moles” due to their appearance but are completely harmless and do not require medical treatment unless they cause discomfort or cosmetic concerns.

They are typically flat or slightly raised and are bright red or purple in colour due to the blood vessel inside the growth. Cherry angiomas do not cause pain, though they may bleed if scratched or irritated. In rare cases, cherry angiomas may bleed if bumped or scratched, but they are generally harmless and not associated with any other medical condition.

Treatment of Cherry Angioma is not available on the NHS as they are considered cosmetic. At Astounding Skin Aesthetics we understand the discomfort and self-consciousness that these lesions can cause. That's why we offer fast and painless removal using electrosurgery with Hyfrecator.
The procedure is quick and straight forward with no downtime and is unlikely to leave a scar. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional care and achieving excellent results.

Dr Chowdhury will inspect your skin during the consultation and confirmed the diagnosis using a dermatoscope before attempting to remove it. He won't perform the removal if he doesn't deem it is safe to do so. A topical numbing cream (if the lesion is small) or a local anaesthetic is applied to numb the skin and minimise discomfort during treatment.
